If you love camping under canvas and want to wake up feeling properly connected to the Northumberland countryside, our campsite is a wonderful place to pitch up.
Whether you’re stopping for a night or two while walking Hadrian’s Wall, or settling in for a longer, slower stay, our tent pitches offer space, peace and a true back-to-nature feel.
Our tent pitches are generously spaced, so you never feel crowded by your neighbours. With big skies overhead, birdsong around you, rabbits hopping and open views across the landscape, it’s the kind of camping that reminds you why you love sleeping in a tent in the first place.
Electric hook-up is available on selected tent pitches if you’d like a little extra comfort, and our facilities are always close by. They’re immaculately kept, with hot, powerful showers, washing-up areas and a laundry room with a communal fridge and freezer, making life under canvas easy and comfortable.
If you want to be away from it all and have the best seat in the house, we have non electric pitches at the top of the site with spectacular views over the valley.
Camping here is about more than just where you sleep. The site is quiet and peaceful, with plenty of room to relax during the day and wonderfully dark skies at night.
You’re welcome to bring your own firepit with a protective mat, or you can hire one from us and enjoy an evening sitting out under the stars with a crackling fire, a few marshmallows on sticks and a mug in hand – or maybe a nice glass of wine instead
We also allow BBQs (as long as the grass is protected) so you can fully enjoy eating al fresco. It’s great to experience the sizzle of bacon/sausage and eggs outside your tent in the morning. But, if you fancy a break from cooking, our morning café serves breakfast rolls made with local sausages, bacon and eggs, alongside barista coffee using Northumberland-roasted beans. Everything is available to take away so you can still enjoy breakfast outdoors at your tent while you enjoy the view but without the hassle of cooking. Our small shop also stocks essentials and a few treats — the kind of things that always come in handy when you’re camping.
Our nearest local pubs are within walking distance along footpaths, making for a lovely stroll through the countryside, with chances to spot curlews and, in spring and summer, enjoy the constant song of skylarks.
Hadrian’s Wall is less than a mile away, making the campsite an ideal base for walking and exploring Roman history straight from the site, with no need to drive once you arrive. We’re also dog friendly, and well-behaved dogs are very welcome to join you on your camping adventure.
