We’ve moved away from the “one-size-fits-all” approach to camping, instead offering suitable pitches where roof tent camping isn’t just an afterthought—it’s a priority.
The pitches we use for roof tents are gravelled hardstanding, ensuring they are easy to drive onto and, crucially, they are level. Forget struggling with levelling blocks at the end of a long drive; here, setting up is quick and hassle-free. This ensures your vehicle remains stable and secure, allowing you to focus on a good night’s sleep and waking up to the spectacular views rather than on adjustments.
All of our pitches are large enough for you to use an awning. If you travel with an additional ground tent for sitting out or cooking, you can choose a hardstanding pitch with adjoining grass, giving you even more space and flexibility. This versatile layout is ideal for those wanting a dedicated outdoor living area alongside their elevated sleeping quarters.
The views from our campsite are stunning, but from your roof tent or tent box, you will truly have the best seat in the house. Sit back and enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets, which change beautifully with the seasons. The layout of our campsite on Hadrian’s Wall means you will get a great view wherever you are.
You can stay with us all year round, so every visit offers something different.At night, lie back in your tent and enjoy the incredible stars. Northumberland International Dark Sky Park is one of the best areas in the country for its dark skies, and we have very little external lighting to spoil them. Stargazing at Hadrian’s Wall Campsite is spectacular. Bring your binoculars for a full 360-degree view, and if your roof tent has a skylight window, you may well be the envy of the campsite.
If you want to drive in, pop your roof tent, and not have to worry about cooking, our location is perfect. We have great options for eating out, including two great pubs within walking distance and takeaway meals from Haltwhistle that deliver to the site. In the morning, during mid and high season, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast roll and barista coffee right here on-site.

One of the great benefits to roof tent guests is the regular AD122 Hadrian’s Wall hopper bus! You can simply leave the roof tent up for the duration of your stay and use the bus to visit our amazing local attractions including Vindolanda, Houseteads Fort or the Roman Army Museum.
