There’s nothing like the freedom of campervan life.
If you’re exploring in your campervan and you’re looking for a great Northumberland campsite for a one- or two-night stopover. Or if you want a relaxing, longer stay at a campsite near Hadrian’s Wall, our campsite is very campervan friendly. Campervans like the VW and Transit-sized vans can access all of our hardstanding/hardstanding with grass pitches including pitches near the top of the site with some of the best views.
Wherever you park up, you’ll feel nicely spaced and connected to the landscape around you.
Our hardstanding pitches are flat and easy to drive onto, making arrival simple after a day on the road. All have electric hook-up, and our full hardstanding pitches are gravelled so you can still comfortably set up an awning, with water on hand for extra convenience.
If you’d like a little more room outside, our hardstanding with grass pitches give you extra space to spread out. They’re ideal for campervans with awnings and come with a picnic bench – perfect for eating outdoors when your van living space is compact.
If your van doesn’t have everything on board, that’s no problem. Our facilities are close by and immaculately kept, with hot, powerful showers and a laundry room with a communal fridge and freezer. We also have a dedicated service area for emptying and refilling tanks and toilet cassettes. The washing-up areas make it easy for you to carry out the domestic chores but if you’re here in the Spring and Summer they won’t feel tedious as the swallows nest around the area and we are always treated to beautiful swallow chicks that like to say hello while you’re washing up.
Staying here is about more than just the pitch. It’s quiet, open and peaceful, with big skies, birdsong and wonderfully dark nights. You might even find a curious robin popping by to say hello.
You can bring your own firepit (as long as you have a protective mat) if you fancy sitting out in the evening under the stars, or you can hire a firepit and buy logs from us which we’ll deliver to your pitch.
Our small shop sells essentials that you may have forgotten or treats that you will always need when on your holidays including the all important marshmallows for the firepit. If you want a break from the cooking, come along to our morning café to enjoy a breakfast roll of local sausages, bacon and/or egg along with a lovely barista coffee made with Northumberland roasted coffee.
You can take those away as well so you can set your table ready at the van and sit back and relax with your tasty breakfast.
If you’re setting out on a motorhome adventure along the Northumberland 250 or travelling to or from the NC500, you’re in for a memorable journey. As Hadrian’s Wall is one of the key destinations on the Northumberland 250 route, our campsite is an ideal place to stay, located less than one mile from Hadrian’s Wall Path.
Our nearest town, Haltwhistle, is just 3 miles away and is known as the geographical centre of Britain, making our site a convenient stop whether you are heading north towards the Scottish Highlands or returning south.
Whether you are planning an overnight stop or staying a little longer to explore the local area, Hadrian’s Wall Campsite is well placed for enjoying Northumberland’s historic landscapes, walking routes and nearby attractions as part of your journey.
It’s always great to visit the local pub when you’re away and our nearest pubs are walking distance along footpaths giving you a great walking experience where you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the curlew and in the spring and summer you will be surrounded by the beautiful skylark song.
Hadrian’s Wall is less than a mile away, making this an ideal base for walking and exploring Roman history, with a local bus stop just a ten-minute walk from the site so you don’t need to get out in your van while you’re here.
We are dog friendly as well. There’s nothing like campervan life with your dog and we’d love to see your lovely pooch here if you have one. We’ve even got a few treats to welcome them in our shop.
