For the tents and caravans we have great, spacious grass pitches, most with electric hook-ups. Located in a stunning setting, our low meadow pitches offer breathtaking views of Hadrian’s Wall – perfect for watching spectacular sunsets. If you prefer a more secluded experience, our non-electric tent pitches at the top of the site provide a tranquil retreat with panoramic views.
You really will be at one with nature on our grass camping pitches – the rabbits like to share the space along with the very friendly and cheeky robins and sparrows who do like to investigate the visitors and accommodation of the moment making your Hadrian’s Wall camping experience truly unique!
If you are doing a Hadrian’s wall hike or cycling the coast to coast route with your tent on your back then we have a great backpacker area where you can pitch with other like-minded campers and where we have a small hut for shelter should the weather be unkind. There is a table and chairs in the hut with space for you to put your cooking equipment for cooking indoors.
Have the best night’s sleep but not before you’ve experienced the spectacle of the dark skies with their incredible stars. Bring your own firepit (as long as you don’t burn our grass) or hire one from our Hadrian’s wall campsite.

So what’s the length of Hadrian’s Wall (World Heritage Site)? There are a few different answers to this question. The Roman unit of distance was a “mile passum” which translates as 1000 paces. A roman mile was equivalent to 5000 feet which means that the wall was 80 Roman miles long with a milecastle fort marking each mile.
A modern mile is equivalent to 5280 feet. This means that the length of Hadrian’s wall is 73 modern miles. But, the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail path adds another 11 miles to the length.
So, Hadrian’s Wall is 84 miles long and runs from Wallsend, Newcastle on the east coast to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast running through 3 counties.
