Hadrian's Wall Campsite

our bell tent

Our 5m bell tent has a double futon and 2 single futons so it’s perfect for a family of 4 or for a romantic break for 2 with great space for relaxing.

There is electricity and sockets in the tent and, of course, you can’t have a bell tent without the fairy lights.

Feel free to bring your own cooking equipment, but if you would prefer not to worry about organising yourself in that way you can hire our mobile kitchen on wheels which comes with a stove, cutlery, crockery and pans (for outdoor use only). Outside we have provided a firepit with a grill and some camping chairs and a table for you to enjoy the outdoors properly with an evening BBQ or even your breakfast fry up. You have everything you need to relax and make happy memories.

The tent is conveniently located near our heated shower block with hot showers and toilets (and a plug for hairdryers/ straighteners!). There is a communal fridge and freezer here too along with washing up sinks, and don’t forget you can get breakfast from our little café

You can take your car to the tent to unload your things but you will need to park your car a small distance away from the tent.

We’re unable to take dogs in the bell tents, we’re sorry.

Hadrian’s Wall

As well as having Hadrian’s Wall (World Heritage Site) on our doorstep, camping here means you can watch the sun set in the evening and rise in the morning while listening to the chorus of birds. What can be better than the smell of your breakfast sizzling on a frying pan outdoors or lazy BBQs on a sunny afternoon.

Cosy up at night time while staring up at the spectacular stars.  Make wonderful, happy memories with your family and friends

Nothing can be better for your mind, body and soul.

Got a Question?

Welcome to our FAQ section. Here, you’ll find answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about our campsite.  We’ve compiled this list in an effort to provide you with quick and easy access to the information you need. If you don’t see the answer to your question here, please feel free to contact us directly and we’ll be happy to help.

WHAT TIME CAN I CHECK IN / OUT?

Check in is from 1pm to 8.30pm. We do recognise that there can be reasons why you may not be able to get here before 8.30pm, especially if you’re coming straight from work on a busy weekend. So we can be flexible. Please pre-arrange a later check in time with us if you need to or if you realise during your journey that you will be arriving later than expected, please ring us.

There is no one at reception prior to 1pm therefore we won’t be able to check you in if you arrive earlier than 1pm we’re sorry

We ask that people leave their pitch by 11.30am.

DO I NEED TO BOOK?

Our campsite is very popular. At weekends and during peak periods we would highly recommend that you book to avoid the disappointment of being turned away if we have no space.

However, there may be times in low/mid-season when we do have space and we would be very happy to welcome you without a booking

WHERE DO I GO WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE CAMPSITE?

You will need to check in at reception when you arrive. When you come through the entrance to the campsite, follow the road around to the left (don’t go straight on) and then to the right (don’t go up the hill). There is an area here just outside reception where you can park.

We will welcome you and give you the information you need in relation to your pitch, facilities and local area.

HOW DO I PAY?

We ask for a 50% deposit at the time of your booking and the balance is due 4 weeks prior to arrival.

When you book online you will be taken to an online payment link. Your balance can be paid online or over the phone. If you book via email you can pay over the phone or we can send an online payment link.

IS THERE WI-FI AND MOBILE SIGNAL?

We think that this is the ideal place to switch off the phones and tablets but we do recognise that access to the internet is important for most people. We do offer free wifi but as you can imagine, being in the middle of the countryside, the speed and strength of the signal is not the best and we can’t guarantee that there will be a consistent signal especially if there are lots of people trying to use it at one time.

The mobile signal on the campsite is excellent.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

We do accept dogs but we do have a restriction of a maximum of 2 dogs per pitch and we ask that you keep them on a lead while on the site.

There are many lovely walks around for you and your dog but please also be mindful that all of the land around us is livestock farming land therefore care needs to be taken while on your walks also.

CAN I LOCK MY BIKE UP SOMEWHERE?

Yes, we have an area that we lock up at night where you can leave your bike.

DO YOU HAVE A CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA?

We don’t have a playground for children but our campsite is a wonderful open space for children to explore (under supervision).

Our chickens and ducks also provide endless entertainment.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST SHOP?

We have a small shop on the site, offering your camping essentials including many local products.

IS THERE A CAFÉ ON SITE?

We don’t have a cafe on site but in the high season we offer takeaway breakfast rolls – bacon/sausage/egg along with barista coffee.

We don’t offer lunch or evening meals but there are good local pubs if you’d like to eat out during your stay.

CAN WE HAVE BBQS?

We do allow BBQs that are far enough off the ground to ensure they don’t scorch the grass. You can buy charcoal for your BBQ in our shop.

We don’t allow disposable BBQs – we want to save our grass and we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

CAN WE HAVE CAMPFIRES?

We believe that campfires are a wonderful part of the camping experience but we also have to consider the safety of all of our guests. We will allow the use of fire pits and your wood burner in your glawning if you have one but please act responsibly.

We cannot allow open fires other than those in firepits and we will not allow fires at all if the weather conditions would make them unsafe.

CAN I SMOKE/VAPE ON THE CAMPSITE?

No smoking or vaping is allowed in our indoor spaces or at our facilities building.

You can smoke around the campsite but we ask that you are mindful of other guests and please dispose of your cigarette butts responsibly.

CAN WE PLAY MUSIC?

We want all of our guests to enjoy their holiday experience with us therefore we have made the decision not to allow amplified music at our campsite.

DO YOU HAVE A QUIET TIME?

Yes. We ask that people are considerate of other guests and our quiet time is between 10.45pm and 8am.

DO YOU PROVIDE RECYCLING FACILITIES?

Our environment is precious to us and we are trying to do everything we can to protect it. We use our local company for our waste collection who separate the rubbish at the depot. Nothing goes into landfill but we would love for everyone to consider what they put in our rubbish bins as much as possible. Please don’t leave bulky items such as broken chairs/tents/mattresses. Our rubbish collectors don’t accept them

Please help us to look after our wonderful environment.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST PUB?

There are two lovely pubs both within 30/40 minutes walking distance from us. The Milecastle Inn is to the West and is a small, cosy pub serving good pub food and local ale.

The Twice Brewed Inn to the East is a larger pub also with their own brewery.

HOW FAR ARE YOU FROM HADRIAN’S WALL?

It takes around 20 minutes to walk to the wall from the campsite and there is a car park at the wall which is less than 5 minutes away. There are a number of lovely local walks taking in the wall and the area around.

Have a look at our out and about section for more information.
