Here’s a quick selection of some of the most common questions we are asked before guests come to stay with us, if the answer you’re looking for isn’t there then please feel free to get in touch.
Check in is from 1pm to 8.30pm. We do recognise that there can be reasons why you may not be able to get here before 8.30pm, especially if you’re coming straight from work on a busy weekend. So we can be flexible. Please pre-arrange a later check in time with us if you need to or if you realise during your journey that you will be arriving later than expected, please ring us.
There is no one at reception prior to 1pm therefore we won’t be able to check you in if you arrive earlier than 1pm we’re sorry
We ask that people leave their pitch by 11.30am.
Our campsite is very popular. At weekends and during peak periods we would highly recommend that you book to avoid the disappointment of being turned away if we have no space.
However, there may be times in low/mid-season when we do have space and we would be very happy to welcome you without a booking
You will need to check in at reception when you arrive. When you come through the entrance to the campsite, follow the road around to the left (don’t go straight on) and then to the right (don’t go up the hill). There is an area here just outside reception where you can park.
We will welcome you and give you the information you need in relation to your pitch, facilities and local area.
We ask for a 50% deposit at the time of your booking and the balance is due 4 weeks prior to arrival.
We can take payment over the phone or you can pay via bank transfer.
We think that this is the ideal place to switch off the phones and tablets but we do recognise that access to the internet is important for most people. We do offer free wifi but as you can imagine, being in the middle of the countryside, the speed and strength of the signal is not the best and we can’t guarantee that there will be a consistent signal especially if there are lots of people trying to use it at one time.
The mobile signal on the campsite is excellent.
We do accept dogs but we do have a restriction of a maximum of 2 dogs per pitch and we ask that you keep them on a lead while on the site.
There are many lovely walks around for you and your dog but please also be mindful that all of the land around us is livestock farming land therefore care needs to be taken while on your walks also.
Yes, we have an area that we lock up at night where you can leave your bike.
We don’t have a playground for children but our campsite is a wonderful open space for children to explore (under supervision).
Our chickens and ducks also provide endless entertainment.
We have a small shop on the site, offering your camping essentials including many local products.
We don’t have a cafe on site but in the high season we offer takeaway breakfast rolls – bacon/sausage/egg along with barista coffee.
We don’t offer lunch or evening meals but there are good local pubs if you’d like to eat out during your stay.
We do allow BBQs that are far enough off the ground to ensure they don’t scorch the grass. We have some BBQs for rent. Please ask at reception
We don’t allow disposable BBQs – we want to save our grass and we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
We believe that campfires are a wonderful part of the camping experience but we also have to consider the safety of all of our guests. We will allow the use of fire pits and your wood burner in your glawning if you have one but please act responsibly.
We cannot allow open fires other than those in firepits and we will not allow fires at all if the weather conditions would make them unsafe.
No smoking or vaping is allowed in our indoor spaces or at our facilities building.
You can smoke around the campsite but we ask that you are mindful of other guests and please dispose of your cigarette butts responsibly.
We want all of our guests to enjoy their holiday experience with us therefore we have made the decision not to allow amplified music at our campsite.
Yes. We ask that people are considerate of other guests and our quiet time is between 10.45pm and 8am.
Our environment is precious to us and we are trying to do everything we can to protect it. We use our local company for our waste collection who separate the rubbish at the depot. Nothing goes into landfill but we would love for everyone to consider what they put in our rubbish bins as much as possible. Please don’t leave bulky items such as broken chairs/tents/mattresses. Our rubbish collectors don’t accept them
Please help us to look after our wonderful environment.
There are two lovely pubs both within 30/40 minutes walking distance from us. The Milecastle Inn is to the West and is a small, cosy pub serving good pub food and local ale.
The Twice Brewed Inn to the East is a larger pub also with their own brewery.
It takes around 20 minutes to walk to the wall from the campsite and there is a car park at the wall which is less than 5 minutes away. There are a number of lovely local walks taking in the wall and the area around.
Have a look at our out and about section for more information.
While beautiful Northumberland is the most northern county in England it is still easily accessible from many places. There are just a few examples below
Manchester – 2 hrs 30 mins
Birmingham – 3 hrs 35 mins
Glasgow – 2 hrs
Edinburgh – 2 hrs 30 mins
Newcastle Upon Tyne – 45 mins
Carlisle – 35 mins

It’s definitely worth the trip even if you have to travel further.

The idea that our campsite will live on in people’s photo albums and happy memories for years to come means a lot to us and drives us on to maintain the reputation we have.
